From October 31st to November 2nd, the Mantera Supreme Hotel will host a large-scale cultural event, the Velvet Ball, featuring a joint exhibition with Grabar Gallery, entitled "The Ray of One Second." The project's name and design reference the well-known optical phenomenon of the "green ray," or "green flash," which occurs at dawn or sunrise when the sun approaches the horizon on the coast or high in the mountains. For centuries, the appearance of an emerald glow from the rising or setting sun has been considered a sign of good luck among sailors and travelers. Jules Verne dedicated his adventure novel of the same name to this phenomenon.

The "green beam" lasts only one second. The encounter with contemporary artists will last slightly longer and offer a rare opportunity to see works by renowned and emerging artists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Omsk, Kazakhstan, and France. The exhibition will feature works by twelve contemporary artists, based on optical effects of repetition and combination.

Each artist approaches optical illusions in their own way: some through their methodology, others through technical and visual techniques. Works in various media, from painting, hand embroidery, ceramics, and metal objects, will present key trends in contemporary art along a sequential route that begins in the hotel lobby and continues through the conference center foyer.

Artists featured in the "Ray of One Second" exhibition:
Ivan Belov, Anna Bystrova, Yulia Virko, Katya Gulieva, Mila Gushchina, Sergey Karev, Liza Korn, Artem Lyapin, Vilgeny Melnikov, Nikolay Onishchenko, Alexandra Pavlovskaya, and Recycle Group.

"We are delighted to welcome the Recycle Group, a duo of artists from southern Russia, among the exhibitors. Their projects have been showcased at major international venues in London, Paris, New York, and the Venice Biennale. Mantera Supreme already features two monumental murals by them, which adorn the reception areas of the hotel lobby. The murals depict natural motifs from the Imeretinskaya Lowland, created using recycled materials – an important reminder of daily care for nature," said Yulia Kapralova, General Manager of the Mantera Supreme Hotel.

Admission to the exhibition is free. Venue: Mantera Lobby and Sirius Conference Center.
